We have selected some surf spots for beginners and intermediate learners so you wont get caught in a giant wave in Nazaré or in Supertubos, Peniche! Praia de Carcavelos

At Praia de Carcavelos you’ll find perfect waves to get you started! This beach is 24 km from Lisbon. In summer, this beach tends to get crowded, so you should plan to arrive as early as possible to avoid the crowd. You’ll find a surf school and many restaurants and bars on this beach.

Ericeira

In this fishing town, there are different beaches and surf spots, among others : Sao Lourenço, Pedra Branca, Coxos and Foz do Lizandro. These beaches are often empty and they are popular destinations for surfers. Unfortunately, there is no surf school directly on the beach, but you can still take a lesson with the region’s surf school! The teachers will choose the most appropriate beach for your level.

Peniche

Peniche is the surf capital in Europe! International competitions happen on Supertubos beach and the surfers call the waves the “European pipelines”. Nevertheless, there are accessible locations for beginners, such as Baleal beach. You’ll find surf schools on the beach where you can rent some equipment.

Sagres

Sagres is the westernmost city of the Algarve region. It is a magnificient destination for travelers who appreciate the beauty of wild nature. Amado beach in Carrapateira is perfect for all levels.
