Located in the center of Lisbon, Mundial hotel is just a few steps away from Sao Domingos church, Figueira square (a public square with shops, coffee shops and hotels) and Rossio square where you’ll find the Dom Pedro IV statue. This hotel is located in the heart of the Baixa Pombalina neighborhood, which is the historical heart and commercial center of Lisbon. Nowadays, we refer to this part of town as the downtown area and it is one of the most elegant neighborhood with the Sao Jorge castle in the background.
The Mundial hotel opened its doors to the public in 1958, but it as undergone recent renovations in 2016. Its 350 rooms are entirely renovated. The authenticity of the building is kept, but the rooms offer more comfort and elegance. Many famous people have been part of this hotel’s history, such as Roger Moore, Alain Delon, Romi Schneider, Brigitte Bardot, Siza Vieira, José Saramago, Amália Rodrigues, Simone de Oliveira, Jean Paul Sartre et Simone de Beauvoir.
This hotel has 2 restaurants, 1 coffee shop, a winery and a rooftop terrace. It offers a complimentary breakfast to all guests. The rooftop bar has one of the best terrace in Lisbon with a view of the historical center and the Tejo River. You can enjoy the view while sipping a cocktail and eating Portuguese tapas.
