Mollusk Fishing in Algarve

Mollusk fishing in Algarve

Yes, it is possible to fish mollusks with real professionals! Cristina, Artur and Nina, their adorable Portuguese water dog, welcome you on their traditional Portuguese small boat to fish clams, oysters and razor clams that populate the beautiful Ria Formorsa’s riverbank. During this activity, you’ll learn how to find clams and razor clams and how to catch them. Cristina and Artur will teach you about the riverbank’s biodiversity and about the history of Portuguese water dogs. The activity ends with a sampling of the delicious mollusks you’ll have caught that day. The tour offered by the Portugal No Limits company is available in English, French and Portuguese.

The Ria Formosa begins close to Faro and continues until the Manta Rota beach, close to Cacela in Algarve. The river runs on 60 km and it is a living paradise for several species of fish and mollusks. It is in this gorgeous location that Claudia Ferreira and her team filmed Episode 5: The Shellfish.
